My 2010 Predictions

People, especially the younger generation are going to be more personal and intimate online. Think of DailyBooth, foursquare, Gowalla. The idea of sharing not only who you are, but now where you are will be the norm.

Vlogging and video content are going to explode. One way or another, it’s easy to create and publish video. You have computers that come with a webcam as a standard feature now.  You also have new sets of point and shoot camcorders available for under $200. On top of that, there will be new phones will follow the iPhone 3GS and offer seamless video recording and uploading.

Sharing content will just get easier. Digg. Delicious. Twitter has retweets. Tumblr has reblog. It’s only a matter of time before other platforms will follow suit.

For those who don’t know how to filter out the information noise, this will also be a year (and maybe decade) of information overflow. This will bring rise to more curators or even curating systems (like Alltop) to help manage this problem.

Twitter Apps Supporting Lists

This past week I upgraded Tweetie on my iPhone to Tweetie 2. Well, not really upgrade, it’s a completely separate iPhone application. So now I have Tweetie and Tweetie 2. I’ve held back on geting Tweetie 2 for a while because I’m a little bit bitter that as a buyer of Tweetie, I’m still shelling out another few dollars to get Tweetie 2! Shouldn’t original users of Tweetie get a discount or free upgrade?

What made me jump the gun was that Tweetie finally supported lists. Now I can organize and track the groups of people who I follow on the go. Before, I could only tweet or look at replies/direct messages. It was difficult to filter the noise considering that I am following a few thousand people. Sure, TweetDeck had groups. But from my experience, it wasn’t very robust nor effective. It didn’t look like it was working half the time. Of course, later on this week TweetDeck now supports lists too! The convenience of lists has enhanced my experience with using Twitter.
